Embroidery and textile art rooted in cultural exchange, craftsmanship, and social engagement.

I am an embroidery and textile artist working across both practical and academic fields. My career began in theatre and film, where I spent over twenty years as a costumier, developing a strong foundation in construction, embellishment, and historical textiles.

Over time, my practice has expanded into fine art embroidery and international development. I have worked extensively with women on rural and refugee handicraft projects in Australia, Nepal, Tibet, Myanmar, Mexico, Turkey, and India, with a focus on skills development, income generation, and the preservation of textile traditions.

For the past decade, I have designed and developed toys, dolls, and handcrafted products for a Tibetan income-generation project in China. I have also contributed to Wellcome Trust–funded art and health initiatives, working collaboratively with women in the slums of Mumbai and in rural communities in Mexico.

These experiences underpin my studio practice. My embroidered textile works draw on diverse cultural influences and explore themes of iconography, identity, gender, and cultural heritage.
